14 officers hurt in clashes with striking truckers

(see related) (ANSA) – Turin, December 9 – Fourteen policemen were injured Monday when striking truckers clashed with police in Turin. Three police vehicles were also reportedly damaged. The truckers were part of the so-called Pitchfork (Forconi) Movement, which aims to block or slow transportation in a number of cities, including parts of Turin, Genoa, Florence, Sardinia and Veneto, in a bid to protest heavy taxes, high fuel costs and alleged government mismanagement.
