Bodies ‘dissected to steal pacemakers’ in funeral scandal
(ANSA) – Pesaro, October 23 – Five former undertakers have been arrested in a probe into an alleged funeral scam in which dead bodies were dissected at a Pesaro hospital so pacemakers could be stolen from them, police said Wednesday.
Another 29 people, including doctors and funeral company employees, are being probed.
Investigators believe the suspects were also involved in acts of fraud and pocketed money from funeral services without paying the contributions due to the hospital in the Adriatic city.
