Grillo scoffs at Berlusconi’s community

P(see related) (ANSA) – Rome, April 15 – Beppe Grillo, the comic-turned-politician who heads the anti-establishment 5-Star Movement, scoffed at a community-service sentence handed to three-time premier Silvio Berlusconi for a 370-million-euro tax fraud at the media mogul’s Mediaset empire.BR”Now he has to spend half a day (per week) performing community service, for evading hundreds of millions in taxes.BRClearly it was worth it. I say this to everyone: dodge millions, if the punishment is half a day per week of community service.BRIt’s a good investment,” said Grillo in a press conference at the Italian Lower House. In August Italy’s supreme Court of Cassation made a binding ruling in the case, in which a series of shell companies was found to have siphoned off taxpayers money, and sentenced Berlusconi to four years, commuted to one by an amnesty. Judges on Tuesday ruled Berlusconi must serve that time performing community service, one day a week for several hours at the Fondazione Sacra Famiglia Catholic foundation at Cesano Boscone, near his native Milan. The ruling also limits his movement to the surrounding Lombardy region, except Tuesdays through Thursdays when he has been authorized to visit Rome.BR/P
