Fugitive drug trafficker arrested

P(ANSA) – Turin, April 18 – Carabinieri paramilitary police have arrested a long-sought drug trafficker, Nicola Giordano, in a hotel in the town of San Secondo di Pinerolo, police said Friday.BRGiordano, 58, resident in Belgium, narrowly escaped a wave of arrests carried out in Naples April 2 in which 232 kg of hashish were confiscated and 25 kg of cocaine seized.BRHe was wanted on charges of belonging to a criminal organisation trafficking narcotics and had checked into the hotel two days ago using his own identity card, the Carabinieri said.BR/P
