Thank you Marco, Jordi and James, your help is appreciated. Jordi, yes it is heavy relative to its size. James, sadly I have no way to weigh the specimen with any accuracy so I cannot find the specific gravity. Barite would make sense as Barytes was one of the main outputs from many of the mines in the area after the production of lead. I am struggling to find any illustrations of Barite that has a similar form and appearance to this specimen, does this form have a specific name? Thank you all again for your help so far. Adrian
