Antiemicrania pregnancy, IQ of children
(ANSAmed) – Rome, may 7 – exposure in pregnancy to medicines containing sodium valproate, an active ingredient that is used against migraine reduces IQ of children about to be born. This was stated by the American Food and Drugs Administration, after the evaluation of the results of a study on children from the age of six. Valproate-based drugs are also used to treat seizures and bipolar disorders. A first study in June 2011 had already discovered the descent of the Iq in children at the age of three.
