Around 50 dead in new migrant-boat disaster

(ANSA) – Rome, October 11 – Some 50 people are dead after a new migrant-boat disaster in the Channel of Sicily on Friday, ANSA sources said. A dozen children are reportedly among the victims.

The wreck comes just eight days after a migrant-boat disaster near the Sicilian island of Lampedusa in which as many as 363 people, mostly Eritrean and Somali, may have died.
