Camorra boss Lo Russo arrested in Nice
P(ANSA) – Naples, April 16 – Italian and French police have arrested in Nice Antonio Lo Russo, a senior member of the Naples-based Camorra mafia and one of Italy’s 100 most-wanted fugitives.BRLo Russo is the son of Salvatore Lo Russo, the jailed head of an infamously violent clan known to be at the centre of Naples drugs trade. Antonio Lo Russo has been sentenced to 20 years in jail for mafia association and drugs trafficking.BRHe sometimes used his connections in the past to get access the pitch-side area where photographers work during home matches of his favourite soccer club, Napoli, as captured in ANSA photographs. He was detained on Tuesday on Nice’s seafront along with his 23-year-old cousin Carlo Lo Russo.BRCarlo Lo Russo has been on the run for over a month and is wanted in relation to a stabbing believed to be a revenge attack following a shooting in which Antonio Lo Russo’s uncle, Mario Lo Russo, was killed.
