Consumer spending drops 1.3% in September compared to 2012 (ANSA) – Rome, November 6 – Consumer spending continued to decline in September, dropping by 1.3% compared to the same period in 2012 and was 0.5% lower than in August, according to statistics released on Wednesday.

Spending by Italian households may be entering a more stable period, said business association Confcommercio, citing statistics that track a three-month moving average.

Yet despite some indicators suggesting the end of a bitter recession in Italy, families remain worried about jobs and income and continue to watch their spending, it said.
