Conte spooks Juve fans over contract

P(ANSA) – Rome, May 6 – Coach Antonio Conte has spooked Juventus fans by refusing to commit his future to the Turin side after leading them to their third consecutive Serie A title.BR”I have to talk to the directors, understand and assess things,” Conte said after Juve’s 1-0 win over Atalanta on Monday.BR”These three years have been tough and intense. I’ll talk to (Chairman Andrea) Agnelli and (General Manager Beppe) Marotta, who I’m friends with. “Together we’ll decide what to do for the good of Juve. I have to see whether I have the strength to continue”.BRMarotta has said in the past that he wants Conte, a Juve player from 1991 to 2004, to be the club’s version of Alex Ferguson. The Scot led Manchester United to 13 Premier League and two Champions League titles during his 26 years in charge.BRBut some commentators have suggested Conte may be worried that he will find it hard to keep motivating his players if he stays on at Juve.BRConte has also said that he is an ambitious coach and he may feel he cannot achieve success in European competition without changing scene unless Juve invest in new players in a massive way.BRThe 44-year-old has been linked to wealthy French top-flight side Monaco.BR/P
