Eight indicted for child prostitute ring
P(ANSA) – Rome, April 23 – Eight people were sent to trial Wednesday over an alleged prostitution ring involving two girls aged 14 and 15 based in Rome’s upscale Parioli neighbourhood.BRThe fast-track trial will start May 16.BRCharges against the eight include aiding and exploitation of prostitution, selling drugs, blackmail, possession of child porn and underage prostitution.BRA 38-year-old Roman barman, Mirko Ieni, is the alleged ringleader.BRInvestigators last October said dozens of clients, most well-heeled, paid for sex with the two girls in a Parioli apartment.BRThe girls reportedly studied at the same high school and began working in May 2013 after being lured through a social network called ‘Bakeca Incontri’, or Meetings Bulletin Board.BRThe teenagers said they went to school in the morning and worked as prostitutes in the afternoon, earning up to 300 euros per client.BRThey reportedly used part of the money to supply their pimps – including one of their mothers – with drugs.BR/P
