Francis, Benedict embrace

P(ANSA) – Vatican City, April 27 – Pope Francis and Pope Emeritus Benedict embraced warmly ahead of the canonisation of popes John Paul II and John XXIII Sunday. Francis went over to greet his predecessor after kissing the altar where the two great popes will be made saints.BRIt was only the second time, after a meeting of cardinals in February, that the popes have embraced at a public ceremony since Benedict shocked the world by becoming the first pope in 700 years to abdicate in February 2013, paving the way for Francis’s election a month later.BRhttp://popefrancisnewsapp.com/ /P
