Garcia demands ‘competitive Roma’
P(ANSA) – Rome, April 24 – Coach Rudi Garcia on Thursday said he was happy to stay at AS Roma, while demanding the club bring in mayor reinforcements for next season, when his men will be challenging in the Champions League as well as in Serie A.BRThere has been media speculation that big international clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain, may try to lure Garcia away in the close season after his impressive debut campaign at Roma.BRThe former Lille boss has transformed a talented side dispirited by several disappointing campaigns into scudetto contenders since arriving last year.BRThe three-time Italian champions are on course to notch up their highest ever points tally in Serie A and yet look likely still to come second, as leaders Juventus have had an even more remarkable season.BR”I’m not laying down conditions,” Garcia told a press conference ahead of Friday’s Serie A match at home against AC Milan.BR”I’m ambitious and I think Roma are too. Next year will be even harder for us because we’ll be playing every three days from the start of the season until December and let’s hope in spring too.BR”It’s just a question of good sense that the club agree with 100%. They want the same thing as me – to be competitive”. If Roma fail to beat Milan Friday, Juve will have the chance to wrap up the title with three games to spare by beating relegation-threatened Sassuolo away on Monday.BR/P
