Growing marijuana in Italy made into administrative offence (ANSA) – Rome, October 10 – Italy’s Senate Justice Committee approved an amendment to the legislation regulating the legal repercussions on those found to have been growing marijuana plants, scrapping the automatic jail sentence that is awarded and scrapping it as a crime overseen by the national penal code.

The amendment, brought to the committee in the form of a proposal drawn up by Senator Giuseppe Lumia, turns the growing of marijuana into an administrative offence from a criminal one.
