Intelligence committee to summon Greenwald

Intelligence committee to summon Greenwald (ANSA) – Rome, October 28 – Italy’s parliamentary oversight committee on the secret services, Copasir, has decided to summon the journalist who broke US whistleblower Edward Snowden’s reports on US spying on allies, Glenn Greenwald.

All Copasir’s members concurred to ask ex-Guardian reporter Greenwald to testify about reported massive surveillance by US intelligence agency NSA, Claudio Fava of the leftist SEL party said.

Italian intelligence sources in Rome said Monday that they had “no evidence” to back claims made on the Cryptome digital-library website that 46 million telephone calls in Italy were monitored by NSA between December 10, 2012 and January 8, 2013. They added that spying and monitoring are not the same.
