Labor decree passes Senate confidence vote
P(ANSA) – Rome, May 7 – The Senate on Wednesday approved in a confidence vote the government’s decree to simplify Italy’s labour-market regulations. The decree has come under intense fire from trade unions, which say it will weaken job security.BRThe confidence test aimed to hasten its passage in parliament, but came with the risk of toppling the government if it failed.BRNo one abstained in the vote, which passed with 158 in favor and 122 against. The decree now goes back to the Lower House for further review.BR/P
