Okay this is serious:
For those of you aren?t like me and don?t just have extensive historical details pertaining to the mistreatment of people with disabilities in the back of your mind at all times, Buck v. Bell was a Supreme Court case in 1929.?
And what was the ruling? The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that it was legal to forcibly sterilize people with disabilities.
I?ll repeat that again with emphasis:
The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that it was legal to forcibly sterilize people with disabilities.
And. The. Ruling. Has. Never. Been. Overturned.
Furthermore, the case frequently refers to people with intellectual disabilities as??unfit? and??imbeciles?. And if that wasn?t bad enough, this case has been directly quoted by Hitler and the Nazis and the effects of this case (wherein multiple people with disabilities were?sterilized?against their will) inspired Hitler to create Aktion T4 which soon turned into the Holocaust. Yes. This ruling and its effects helped lead to the Holocaust.
And it has never officially been overturned.
It is currently right now at this moment on September 28th, 2016, legal for ?unfit? people?to be forcibly sterilized.
