ALEXANDRITE: Alexandrite hails from the Ural Mountains of Mother Russia. It is famous for its ability to change color depending if it is under natural light or artificial light. A beautiful yellow green in daylight, Alexandrite transforms to a reddish hue under incandescent bulbs. This color change process became known as the Alexandrite effect. Due to its green color, it was mistaken for Emerald when it was first discovered. It later became the stone of Tsarist Russia and its namesake is Tsar Alexander the II.
