Pope Francis says ‘bother God’ with prayer

Pope Francis says 'bother God' with prayer (ANSA) – Vatican City, December 6 – Pope Francis on Friday said to ‘bother God’ with insistent prayer and have certainty he will hear it, reported Vatican Radio.

”I don’t know if perhaps this sounds bad, but to pray is to bother God a little bit, to make him listen,” the pontiff said in his homily during morning Mass at St. Martha’s House, the Vatican guesthouse where the pope lives.

Prayer has two attitudes, continued the pope. One is ”needy” and the other ”certain” that God will, according to His own time and way, answer that need, said the pontiff.

”He who prays does not fear bothering God and nourishes blind faith in His fatherly love,” said the pope.

”Jesus himself taught us to pray as the ‘irritating friend’ who begs for food at midnight”.
