Pope prays for migrants who died on Niger trek

(ANSA) – Rome, November 1 – Pope Francis on Friday prayed for dozens of African migrants who died in the Niger desert two days ago.

“I will pray for our brothers and sisters, men, women and children, who died of thirst, hunger and exhaustion on a trek to reach a better life,” the pope said.

“We have seen the images of the cruel desert,” he added, before asking the the faithful to join him in silent prayer.
