Six arrests in ENAC corruption probe

P(ANSA) – Rome, April 7 – Six arrests were made Monday in the Rome area in a corruption probe regarding the Italian Civil Aviation Authority (ENAC). ENAC officials and a businessman are accused of conspiracy to commit bribery, forgery and fraud in public procurement.BR”We are very sorry, but certainly this is a very limited episode,” commented ENAC Chairman Vito Riggio. “The three ENAC officials – a manager of the Urbe airport and two technicians, were arrested for modest dealings,” said Riggio.BRThe ENAC chief added that it was the “first time” such a thing had happened to ENAC, and that the employees involved had been suspended as soon as the aviation authority was informed of the investigation.BRThe arrests were made by the Roman flying squad and the border police of the Ciampino airport.BR/P
