Soccer: Italy players ‘may take families to World Cup’

Soccer: Italy players 'may take families to World Cup' (ANSA) – Rome, November 19 – Italy players may have their partners and children with them at their World Cup base in Brazil next year, coach Cesare Prandelli said Tuesday.

Prandelli told ANSA he was hoping to recreate the positive family atmosphere at the team hotel at this summer’s Confederations Cup in Brazil, where Italy came third after losing to world and European champs Spain on penalties in the semis.

“We opened up our hotel to families and children at the Confederations (and) the response was very good.

“I’ll talk about it to the players and we’ll try to sort it out, they’re the ones who have to be relaxed.

“Having their families with them, especially the kids, helps ease the tension,” Prandelli said.
