Soccer: Japan playmaker Honda to join Milan in January

Soccer: Japan playmaker Honda to join Milan in January (ANSA) – Rome, December 11 – AC Milan Chief Executive Adriano Galliani said Wednesday that Japan playmaker Keisuke Honda will join the struggling Italian giants in January.

Honda is set to join the seven-time European champions, who are currently ninth in Serie A and trail leaders Juventus by 22 points, as a free agent with his contract CSKA Moscow set to expire this month.

“Keisuke Honda will be a Milan player from January 3,” said Galliani, who was unsuccessful in a bid to persuade CSKA to let the player go in the summer transfer window.

“The procedures are extremely difficult because he’s a non-European player and I don’t know if he’ll be able to be on the field on January 6 against Atalanta. “At the latest he’ll make his debut away from home against Sassuolo (on January 12)”.
