Soccer: Two Ajax fans knifed outside AC Milan match

Soccer: Two Ajax fans knifed outside AC Milan match (see related) (ANSA) – Milan, December 11 – Two supporters of Dutch club Ajax suffered knife wounds outside a Milan soccer stadium Wednesday ahead of their side’s Champions League match against AC Milan. One of the two was in critical condition, police said. Earlier Wednesday Ajax supporters clashed with protesters belonging to the Pitchfork (Forconi) Movement. Hardcore Italian ‘ultra’ soccer fans were among a variety of disenchanted groups taking part in the anti-tax, anti-government Pitchfork protests, which were in their third day and have caused widespread disruption. The clashes occurred after around 20 Ajax fans got off a bus that had been held up by the protesters and started to insult them.

Police intervened to break up the fighting and took note of the identities of around 10 of the Ajax fans.

No one was badly hurt in those scuffles.
