Video of cat abuse on social media denounced by activists
(ANSA) – Brindisi, October 21 – Italian animal protection activists denounced a video posted on social media that showed a cat being thrown into the air numerous times by a young woman before the terrified feline was able to flee.
Members of the Italian Association for the Defense of Animals and the Environment (AIDAA) called for police to lay charges in the incident.
The organization said such attacks by youngsters are increasing, which suggests youth are becoming de-sensitized to violence.
“Acts of violence towards animals in recent years have become more frequent among adolescents who crave fame on social networks,” said Antonella Brunetti, national president of the organization.
