The Wednesday placement sold quickly despite the lower yield, which was well below the 0.629% rate offered in the October 29 sale.
Meanwhile, the spread between Italian 10-year bonds and its German counterpart remained stable, opening at 235.6 basis points, down very slightly from Tuesday’s close of 236 basis points.
The yield on 10-year paper was 4.05%.
The spread is a significant measure of investor confidence in the Italian economy, as compared with the more stable German economic environment.
